I switch between "I" and "you" a lot, but then I'm a borderline Multiple Personality Disorder case!

I hear different parts of myself in my head... and they criticise me all the time.

"You need to get to work today". I just wanted to see from what perspective people see themselves when being "inside their heads". I'm very "disembodied" as I use multiple personas and almost never use I.
    Is it clearer?
Yes, it is, thanks. I very rarely speak to myself that way, so the entire concept was a bit confusing to me. I can recall occasions where I would think something like "you dumbass!" after screwing something up, or "I need to go to the store" or whatever, but most of the time I just do stuff without that, so I voted "other" because it's just not usual behavior for me.

I usually think more in terms of visions or looking at something. If a conversation is involved, its usually like I'm myself talking to somene else. If its ideas entering my mind, sometimes its in the form of "you could ____", sometimes its in the form of "well, I suppose I could ____" and others times its in the form of an image or scene along the lines of "look what could happen/be".

It seems redundant to me to recognize who is speaking in my head. The only reason I specify the persona when speaking to people, like in this post for example, is for others' benefit...so they know I acknowledge the difference between perspective and fact.

Yeah, I can't recall even thinking anything like that. If I needed to go to the store for milk, my thoughts would look something like this.

I picked I use different "personas", sometimes a mix of all, it varies It really depends. A lot of times I use nothing at all. That's when I feel I do my best thinking.

"You need to get to work today".
I think mostly I just have a general sense of "need to get to work today", it's not in words, just an urge.

Wait, I'm lost. Why would you need to specify for the benefit of someone else if this is going on inside your head with no one else?

    ok I'll rewrite my post.....

It seems redundant to me to recognize who is speaking in my head. Well, you might ask, then why doesn't it seem redundant to specify the persona when speaking to people? That is, people who exist outside your head, in objective reality? The only reason I specify the persona when speaking to people outside my head in objective reality.....
    I don't wanna!
