    Default The Art of Procrastination

    Please discuss...

some of my favorite procrastination activities:

    1) call up random people i haven't called in a while (nowadays poeple get more pissy if you haven't talked in a while. things weren't like this 15 years ago when there was beepers and phones with no caller ID's so you can make them play guessing games about who you are... =D )

    2) sit around and zone out on discovery channel

    3) type on forums like this one

    4) chat online

    5) set up potential dates or activities in the future, plan them out in my head, and nurse them to existence... and spontaneous make it happen

    6) think about going to work out, for about 2-3 hours and never go bc u get too tired...

    etc....

any other suggestions for procrastination activities?

    1) I enjoy calling people I talk to often and pretend that they called me but I'm really a business like Joey's Pizza. That's when I'm SUPER desperate and in a silly mood.

    2) Making a mess so I have to reorganize everything

    3) Shopping for shoes

    4) TED Talks. Go check them out!!

Here are some of my most common procrastination techniques:

    1. Determined to get the job done, I take my task head on at that moment then once I get two seconds into it I get bored and move on to something more 'fun'. Like listening to my iPod, watching TV, video games, or analysing something I've already over analysed to death.

    2. Getting out of bed in the morning is extremely difficult for me. It sometimes takes me a full hour to get out of my cosy comforter. So I decided to set my alarm an hour ahead of time so I can enjoy it long enough to motivate myself.

    3. I'm quite fidgety and can't stay seated (nor focus) for very long so I procrastinate completing my tasks by periodically getting up to pace (which can take two minutes to even several hours, depending on my stress level).

    4. Spending Wasting several minutes of thinking whether or not doing a certain activity is actually necessary at that time. Usually with the answer "No, but I really should." Then creating a standard schedule to get these rituals done, which sometimes works but often settles on, "I don't want to start my new schedule until the start of a new day," and feel completely unmotivated to do it the next day.

    5. The internet. Need I say more?
