Hm yeah kinda... well I dunno, I don't know of any pubs I've ever been in that sell them... they're mostly sold and eaten cold from the chilled section, same place you get sandwiches and pasty snacks like Cornish pasties and sausage rolls... I suppose you're gonna say you don't get those over there either? lol

They're really more packed lunch fodder, or maybe picnics

Pubs mostly sell sandwiches, baguettes, and 'hearty meals' like steak and ale pie, shepherd's pie, anything with chips (what you call French fries but much thicker and tastier), steaks and burgers and the obligatory vegetarian option: the cheese and broccoli bake. But there's quite a marked North/South divide - in the South there's more of an upmarket move/trend for things like wraps and salads etc, whilst in the North it's still very much 'chips and gravy' territory!

I never knew what Scotch eggs were until I saw fat Keith eat one in The Office. I've wanted to try one ever since, but they appear to make chicken fried steak look like health food

    Sandwiches? Yes.

Pasty snacks? No, not really. You can't get stuff like sausage rolls or Cornish pasties over here nationally. Some of this kind of thing may be available regionally, for example I think you can get a reasonable beef-and-onion pasty in parts of Michigan. I've never had one, always wanted to try.

Of course, I can get stromboli locally. Can you get stromboli? Hmmm?

perhaps but sometimes the best food is mundane food. Take Ice Cream for example you can get that anywhere, but still it's yummy and still get excited over a bowl of Ice Cream. So I still get excited over finding a quarter or a hug or a smile from a stranger.

and we can't get them everywhere.

I was starving. And then I went shopping.

$120 later I am neither hungry nor lacking in anutritional snacks for the next 2 months.

    I didn't say "food", I said "snacks".
