    Edgar,

Top of the morning to you.

I'm considering painting the spare bedroom a new and interesting colour called "hint of brain". The GF wants "magnolia".

How does one resolve this seemingly irresolvable conflict?

There is no such thing as an "irresolvable conflict".

    Here is a suggestion:

Tell your son that if he keeps asking such rhetorical, mental-masturbatory questions, he will grow up to be an INTP. And nobody likes INTPs. Not even other INTPs.

Both of his eyes are fine. The patch is just a fashion statement.

OK, I've got a serious one for you.

Tomorrow we have an all staff meeting at work with a continental breakfast. My request for Dean & Deluca catering was brutally rebuffed and explained away as extravagant and wasteful. This is coming from people who recently installed 40-inch flat screen TVs in their offices. I am outraged. I took your advice of not doing anything to food I wouldn't eat myself. How else can I seek revenge?
Relationships have normal ebbs and flows. They do not automatically get better and better when the participants learn more and more about each other. Instead, the participants have to work through the tensions of the relationship (the dialectic) while they learn and group themselves and a parties in a relationships. At times the relationships is very open and sharing. Other time, one or both parties to the relationship need their space, or have other concerns, and the relationship is less open. The theory posits that these cycles occur throughout the life of the relationship as the persons try to balance their needs for privacy and open relationship.
