Acknowledges the variability of truth. Like the white whale, it is hard to catch and often elusive. So together with the status of captain, we have someone who is a captain of truth. Or at least wants to appear so.
"I am what I seem, and am not what I seem, at the same time, and am very good at it (and quite agile)!"
A cry of defiance, and not of fear,
A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door, and a word that shall echo for evermore!
For, borne on the night-wind of the Past, through all our history, to the last,
In the hour of darkness and peril and need, the people will waken and listen to hear
-- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
@Coriolis : You think in abstract terms and enjoy order and the mystical.
Also, I'm thinking a morally neutral orb of energy that could lean on the side of evil given a misguided ideology, powergrab, or some similarly ambitious goal. To actualize these goals, you'd take the form of a corporeal being and scheme accordingly.
