Default What gives you a personal sense of importance?

For me it is when I come up with an original idea, thought, and particularly an original joke.

I think when people implement my idea, it gives me a sense of feeling important.

Making an impact on someone. Sharing something beautiful or exciting with someone. Receiving gifts or just things like phone calls or internet messages.

Nothing external, really... I'm always aware that in the scheme of my worldview, I'm both 'nothing', and yet, also 'everything'. Won't say any more than that for fear of the Inquisition

When my ideas solve the problem at hand? Well, sometimes it doesn't necessarily goes according to plan. But if what I did was instrumental to the outcome, why not feel proud anyways?

Night... when that happens for me it makes me feel useful, but 'important' just seems like an odd choice of word for me, in that context... I mean I'm not actually conceited enough to think that, had I not been around or even born, people wouldn't have managed just fine anyways

Ah yes. It really depends on how you define "importance". If I identify with the project, then its success will naturally be tied to me. What's important is the completion of the task and by virtue of my affinity to its progress, it influences my personal sense of importance.

Blah! I'm making it more complicated than it needs to be.

    Take two.
If I see the project as being important to me. Then how well the project moves along will be tied to my personal sense of importance.

Yeah, I've seen this happen... it's quite alien to me though
I'm not sure why it is but I just don't feel... uh... I dunno... there's a quote I'm trying to think of actually that sums up how I feel in relation to a project I helped and its success... gahhhh something about an architect who stands in his finished cathedral and looks around with an appreciative eye on his handiwork, seeing its awesomeness but yet not feeling that the awesomeness of the cathedral bears any relationship to his personal awesomeness levels. Haha, gotta find the quote, they said it way better!

I guess I just don't identify personally with stuff... much at all
