Default Why did you choose your current (or past) avatar(s)?

    'nuff said!

(And if the thread actually becomes psychologically substantial, perhaps we can move it to a more reputable place.)

I have a meeting to attend, so I'll wait until later to give my two cents.

Mine is the university of Moscow amateurishly photoshopped for added gloominess. I have a soft spot for portentous architecture.

At the moment, I'm commenting on MacG's fixation on Darth Vader.

Mine is the result of contemplation; when will my husband (ISTJ) will truly understand me?

    This signature left intentionally blank.

    Really.

I think pigs fly quite nicely if you allow the use of a trebuchet. (It's the landings that are a bit unwieldy.)

He's got the clown thing going as well, but I haven't seen that theme lately...

I liked the picture, it's very different from other avatars here, and the coloring is nice. Gives a certain flavor to you -- educated, refined, academic (but not in a stuffy sense at all).

I found my current avatar a few months ago and had been saving it for an opportune time (and my change in UserID seemed to be an appropriate moment). I just thought the image of the woman holding the mask was so appropriate thematically, her appearance resonated with me, and the coloring/style was evocative. It won me over on both counts [content and appearance].

As is well known, this avatar was lovingly made by hand by someone that liked me. It's so artistic that I can't help sticking with it. I don't have a better one at this point.

Mine is a pic of a fairy doll I stumbled across. She looks 'exactly' the way I dreamed of looking back when i was a little girl. She even has black hair with blue streaks. I relate to fairies a bit. They are mischievous and elusive.

Mine is the picture of a zergling seem in the lower control bar when zerglings are selected in starcraft (Though I got it of the internet.) It was the picture that seems to fill up an avatar sized space the best. I picked it to go with the forum name.

Mine is cute and silly, like me. Only I'm neither that cute nor that silly.
Edit: almost all of my avatars are silly in some way if not cute.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”
