    I hypothesize that those who pick the plainer faces are slightly dishonest with themselves, and US! Some kind of distaste with conventional attractiveness. It is what it is.

    There's something odd about 4's mouth. That's why she didn't appeal so much to me.

    I voted before I read the responses, too.

    It's not too unusual - what is unusual is the strong preference for #3 here, far as I can tell. Not that it was uncommon to like #3, but typically less than #4 and #1. Granted, I'm drawing on other experiments besides these pictures, but in both, that tended to be the case.

    One of the reasons is that the other faces appeal more is because they approach the genetic "norm" more so, but on the advantageous side.

    This is what is present on the lower side of the scores;

    I definitely saw a big divide between 1/2 and 3/4. 1 was too airbrushed and/or soft focus to really have any features to distinguish her. 2 had creepy gray/dry as straw hair.

    haha I thought the same thing. I was like well in a cyber world id pick her but in real life id go with 4, seems safer. I gave 2 a little love but I know I would go with 4.

    I find 1 to be most attractive. It was that or 4, but 1 looked more calm.

    I picked 2 because she had the foxiest eyes (and I mean that literally), and I like foxy eyes. I also just find something more engaging about her expression.

    After taking a step back I realized that I generally followed the pattern of thinking the most "average" looking was the best looking. I mean average in the sense that the face is very symmetrical and there is nothing really unique about it.

    I didn't really pay attention to hair. The face seemed to be the thing in the forefront, so I went on facial features alone. Plus, I knew it was a composite.

    3 over 4 cause of the slightly more chiseled face, otherwise it would've been 4 cause it looks more real than 3
    The answer must be in the attempt
