    Oh man!!!

Ugh, I hate using the term gifted, shit, replace it with significantly cognitively different than the norm.

I am the furthest thing from being an intellectual elitist, bleh.

I am just venting my frustrations with what this giftedness entails in a real-world application.

Only within the past two or three years have I felt justified and confident enough to come out of the closet about my giftedness.

Gah, honestly, sometimes I wish I were a hell of a lot less smart, life would be easier, then, it would seem.

    Bleh.

    CaptainChick,

Please do not misunderstand me. I'm not a crazy proponent of PC - if you are gifted, I think you should speak about it openly. It is not your choice of words that I wanted to refer to.

However, it might be a good idea to re-evaluate your attitude towards non-gifted people. It makes us feel just as isolated when a gifted person pushes us aside as it does when you feel we cannot 'relate' to you. We want to. We just might not be 'able' to.

If you are gifted in math, for example, I really, really, really want to understand. Trust me. But my brain just doesn't compute. I guess that part of my brain just did not develop properly. Or if you are gifted at sports - I would really, really, really love to be able to play a game with you, but I'm just totally uncoordinated.

Of course, we all have talents, however. Even a person of average intelligence might be excellent at building things, even if he is a total CATASTROPHE at everything else. And I, well, I am fairly good at languages, so I might be able to help you in that way.

So rather than finding all the things that are bad about the person and how they can't relate, try to think positively. What can we do to help each other? Maybe you are brilliant at dealing with people and I blow at it. But maybe I can help you look within yourself. Or maybe you're brilliant at math but a disaster at language skills (I don't think so, just saying). Maybe we can help each other. Or you're extremely logical, and I'm a total naive fart, but I can help you develop your imagination. See!!!

Of course some people really are stupid idiots that are beyond all recognition. Then there's nothing to be said. I think most people have specific talents and skills and you need to think positively. Not OMG WHAT A STUPID F*** but rather Oh, hey, this person may need help where I am strong, but they have a strength where I am weak.

That's what relationships are all about.

Exactly. This is what I meant. Everyone has things he's good at and things he isn't good at. This is true for gifted and non-gifted people. If everyone were brilliant, that would be awful. We just need to recognize what we are good at and what we are not good at and help each other.

A.) I happen to be "globally" gifted, or exhibit, "multipotentiality", translation: I am a master jack-of-all-trades.

B.) I WANT TO CONNECT WITH PEOPLE!!! I SEEK THIS OUT DAMN NEAR ON A DAILY BASIS!!!

C.) Wisdom, compassion, integrity, insight, originality, humor, ingenuity, and the ability to actively engage in critical thinking, now these are things that I hope to find and see in my peers, or people, in general!!!

D.) I said this before, and I'll say it again, I am no intellectual snob/elitist.

So there is no merit in an outlier griping about not fitting in?
