    Default Unlisted Type

Why do think some people don't list their types on their profile?

Is it because they're just some incredibly private being that can't stand anyone knowing anything about them?

Do they just not subscribe to a theory that would just promote stereotypes in their mind, whether it be themselves or others?

Or is it that they are just that desperate for joke space?

I mean, really? It just annoys me. I'm just lurking along and I want to see the viewpoint that a certain poster is coming from, but lo and behold, they think that it 'tis not something to concern themselves with when they're posting on a forum known as MBTIcentral. The thing is, I really like being able to make the connection between a poster's type and their post content, it reminds me why I spend anytime reading about MBTI at all. So for all that is good in this world, it won't kill you to type four letters into a box, even if some of them might be x's anyways, okay?
Would you kindly read my signature?

maybe it's their fear of being seen as a stereotype and not as a human being

I think there is merit in exploring Jung's functions, but not type. And definitely not stereotypes and generalisations, which are all most people seem to be interested around here.

    WHY ARE INFPS SUCH PANSIES?

Well, you see, Fi is a process of introverted judgment, and.......

    WHAT'S FI?

I just told you. How do you even know this person's an INFP?

    CUZ THEY'RE A PANSY

INFPs scare me more than just about any other type...

I don't want to be judged by my type. I'm here to have a bit of fun and learn a thing or two not to represent a specific type, some comments and judgements in the past have bugged me so I leave it out. If I enter in a conversation where it's relevant fine otherwise Id rather people judged me by my words not my type.

The only reason I have NT in my type at the moment is cause I thought it would let me post in the private NT forum, apparently not.

More oft than not it's people who think their type defines them (quite erroneously), and they don't want to be defined. Sometimes they don't know what their type is. Sometimes they don't want you to know.

I wonder why some people who may think this would lack self-confidence in their ability to genuinely present themselves and give others room to make their own observations.

It seems inevitable that one's posting style will enable others to make those decisions and those who are prone to stereotypical thinking will do so anyway.

Such as thinking of others as:

    The forum jerk
    The forum sweetheart
    The forum jock
    The forum idiot

I imagine most of us are prone to stereotyping to some extent.

At any rate there are folks here who seem skilled at typing and can probably figure a consistent poster's type anyway.

I do agree with the OP. Why be here dealing with the intricacies of personality if one isn't interested in contributing their own?

There's nothing interesting in there anyway. So not worth the effort.
