I would never describe myself as a half caste, a quadroon, an octoroon or a quintroon, because it is racist.

I would prefer to describe myself as a son of the humanist Renaissance and the Scottish and English Enlightenment.

However I am staggered that racism comes so trippingly off the tongue in this thread, as though it were the most natural thing in the world.

And perhaps in MBTI Central, it is.

Wow, I didn't expect so many of you to have scandinavian/swedish ancestry! There should be a club!
I'm still back in the old country...
Ancestry isn't really anything you discuss here but while I'm on the thread I guess I should state my ethnic composition:

    3/4 swedish
    1/4 danish

    Me? Greatest to least:

Mexican, Spanish, German, English, Cherokee, Welsh, Dutch, French... gets hazy from about Welsh on...

My grandmother's people in Mexico were from a specific Native American tribe, but unfortunately I do not know it.

    1/4 Breton Celt (Brittany)
    1/8 Dutch (Haarlem)
    1/8 Northern Italian (Verona area)
    1/4 Western ashkenazi jew (Alsace)
    1/8 Polish ashkenazi jew (Toru?)
    1/8 French (Auvergne)

And I should add traces of Hungarians, Southern Germans, Ukrainians and Norwegians.

Well, France is probably the only european country where a lot of people immigrated rather than emigrated, so we are a bit like our american cousins, with lot of mixed ancestry... It's not unusual.

Pure German or pure British are common in (respectively) Germany or the UK, but someone who would consider him/herself as "pure French" is a "vue de l'esprit" (= a very rare occurence indeed!).

    ---

But genetically, and according to several tests (a lot of my organs are not where they are supposed to be; my blood type... and so on), the results said I was a Tatar mongol.
I have a very rare genetic disease (nothing harmful! It's rather a difference than a disease ), and it almost only affects people of this ethnic background. In France there are only three people who have the same "defect", while 80% of know cases in the world are found near the city of Kazan (Russia).

Who knows how it came to me!
