Falcarius reads basically every thread each day, but rarely replies as his tummy rumbles too much and puts him off typing.

People actually read the threads before posting?
"We grow up thinking that beliefs are something to be proud of, but they're really nothing but opinions one refuses to reconsider. Beliefs are easy. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because "strength of belief" is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. As soon as you are proud of a belief, as soon as you think it adds something to who you are, then you've made it a part of your ego."

I'd say about 1:100. Why? Because chances are, I'm the only one who has something interesting to say.

I'm with Spirilis. Even on topics that interest me, I rarely have much to add to the conversation, and I'm just not very good at jumping into conversations anyway. It was a stretch to jump into this one, actually .

Usually by the time I get to threads everything that I might want to say has already been said so I end up reading a whole lot more than posting.

10:1 I find it a lot more interesting to really pay attention to each individual's thoughts and their posting style and also to see the discussion develop. I don't know, I think its a combination of me wanting to have sort of a rich background in what is being discussed before I butt in. I also think the fact that I tend to ask a lot of clarifying and speculative questions might bog down the thread or sort of close it off before it can really take off.

With all that said though I think both the frequency in which I post and the comfort level that accompanies that have definitely increased dramatically now that I've become more acquainted with this forum and its members.
My cold, snide, intellectual life is just a veneer, behind which lies the plywood of loneliness.
