    Default Call your dad!

Happy Father's Day to the fathers on the forum!

For the sons and daughters on the forum-- call your dad!

For those whose fathers have passed on,

Edit: also a for those who cannot call their fathers for reasons other than him being deceased, or for people whose concept of fatherhood only brings pain.

Your protector/guardian status coming to the fore there :-)

I've arranged to take my Dad on a trip next weekend to see his Mother in her care home, and to have a Father and Son day.. walks in some of his childhood haunts, beer and a curry in the evening.

See why I have such a hard time figuring out my type?! But that's a topic for another thread.

That sounds like a nice get-together. I'm taking the kids to see my dad tonight.

I don't speak to my father and I am not about to start today.
A criticism that can be brought against everything ought not to be brought against anything.

Is there a logical reason why Fathers day is the same in the US and the UK, but Mothers day is different?

I asked Don if he was going to call his dad and he said "I don't think I usually do." and that was that.

I'll call my dad in a little bit here.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”
