For me it's uncomfortable being at the center of attention or putting someone at the center of attention when they clearly don't want it, but I strongly believe in honoring someone's birth so I like to celebrate birthdays anyway.

    Oh! That's my cue!

OK, I spent my 21st birthday doing hw in the library. I often forget my birthday's coming up until someone reminds me a week or so before. Overall, I'm just too lazy to get a group of people together to celebrate something that my mom should be getting presents for.

EDIT: Woah, I just realized that my birthday is next Saturday! I rest my case...

I sat with my father as he died on my birthday five years ago and I haven't celebrated it since. I've tried to put that into perspective and have talked to several other people who lost loved ones on their birthday. Someone once suggested to me that he had hung on long enough to be with me on my birthday and I like that thought.

I remember the first birthday I realized that it was just another day. My freshman year in college I had to use my birthday money to buy books and that was my first introduction to the cold, hard facts of life.

I don't enjoy my own birthdays or many compulsory celebrations for that matter. My view is if you want to give a gift it's nicer to receive or give sporadically throughout the year, because you've seen something someone might like, not because you have to buy them something.

I don't celebrate. Gifts make me uncomfortable and I don't like cake. Unless you're talking about ice cream cake.

Hmm.. I find excuses to celebrate things, birthdays are definitely up my ally. It's just an excuses to say "Hey, we all love you, and we're glad you're here." if it's not celebrated, no big deal, no one's upset because like I said, it's more an excuse to appreciate. At least thats how I think! XD! But I do tend to combine birthdays with things, like Halloween and birthdays, of if a couple are close together there's no sense in celebrating THREE times or whatever.

    Question.

Do you like presents because of what do you get or you like to know that other people love you?(Let say that everybody are honest)

    Or you like both?
