    Personally when someone says "I'm the best guy there is" (silly/extreme example here), my reaction is simply to either laugh or ignore. It doesn't bother me. They don't deserve too much thought.

    Obviously you chose to interpret it as self-egoboosting, and that ^ would be my reaction to such a claim, but I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt unless the self-praising is really evident.

    At the end of the day, though, if it helps build their self-esteem, I say let them do it...I'm ok with my ego regardless of what they try to imply.

    That's actually a really good idea. It'd be the flipsided to when a really awesome thread opens on INTPc, we allow the thread to run, but before it really takes off someone post in brackets;
