Default Do you make a lot of T.V. references in conversations?

I realize that I am always making a ton of t.v. references as I have watched t.v. all of my life and have turned out t.v.,lol.

I find that people's points go up if they get my references
and that I use it as a type of litmus test for people, lol.

I also find that I love throwing obscure t.v. and or movie references out there
and totally love it- it just makes my day if someone else ever gets the reference and better yet plays off of it and can go back and forth
those people are definately going to heaven kind of happy with them feeling

if people don't get it then I still take enjoyment as it becomes a private joke and I can secretly make fun of them, lol.

    does anyone else relate?

Ha. All the time. But I hate it when people recognize it. There's this awkward "Hey buddy we like the same movie!" moment. "Right on. Yep." I was kinda trashed a few weeks ago and started doing FMJ lines. "Who said that! Who the F said that! I will PT you all until you Fing DIE!"

No but I remember one time I was held hostage by some bastard on a bus once who was a movie nut. He talked for a whole hour referencing old ass obscure movies that came out like 10 years before I was born. I didn't know it was possible to know the intricacies of that many movies(quoted whole scenes in an EXTREMELY geeky way).

Before that experience yea I used to make my fair share. My deeper knowledge was kind of narrow though and limited to my specific Interest's.

No, and I hate it when people do that.
    No offense.

Yes, I do it all the time, just to annoy 6sticks.

Usually The Simpsons, but sometimes something from SNL or The State or some old show.

I don't watch a lot of TV - but I do this all the time with movies, for example.

Most time, people don't get what I'm trying to say, and they don't even know that it comes from a movie. And every once in a while, I get that blank expression that just says, "Huh?!!?!?!??!"

<---Like a combo of these two guys.

Sometimes, however, someone gets it, and we have a great kick over it. Then it becomes like a secret language. Muahhahaa.

No, and I find it a useless and stupid habit.

I use lots of movie references here. Some obvious, some not so much so. So far, you've cottoned onto about 3 of them.

-How beautiful, this pale Endymion hour.
    -What are you talking about?
-Endymion, my dear. A beautiful youth possessed by the moon.
-Well, forget about him and get to bed.
    -Yes, my dear.

    You talkin' to me?

I probably use movie references a little bit myself, but mostly for my own amusement, not to test other people out for a hi-five on the accomplishment of "getting it."

I do, but I make references to many different forms of media. I make more references here then anywhere else infact. Though the only people who've called me out on it here are Ivy and Whatever, and occasionally Uber.
