    I was intimidated by it for a while from a couple perspectives but it is actually really simple and fun IMO.

    I came to typology central from personality café a long time ago (2009) and the principle motivation for me to join typology central's community was Ventrilo. Real time chat is so much richer, complex and authentic than text alone could ever be. While text, aka forums have their use and place, I think that if Ventrilo or something like it were not a part of typology central I would have faded away by now. Be warned however, Ventrilo is like crack/heroin

    I'm pretty much in "the bubble" irl (married with kids as Bill Burr would say) so my ability/time to socialize is limited. Ventrilo has given me a way to establish and maintain REAL relationships and friendships with people who have similar interests as myself who are often half way across the globe This is a good thing.

    *throws the Ventrilo gang sign at his fellow venties*

    Vent combines my two favorite activities, lounging naked and shooting the shit.

    yeah definitely depends on who's in there, but i've very much enjoyed vent for the most part. we have some really cool members on this site, and vent enables you to get to know them in all their glory
    You hem me in -- behind and before;
    you have laid your hand upon me.
    Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
    too lofty for me to attain.

    @highlander - I have a bit of a suggestion if you don't mind listening.

    Have you ever considered moving to irc instead? Vent is awesome, but it mostly limits chat to people that have access to their personal computers. There are mobile apps, but the experience kind of sucks. What I was thinking is a way for people to chat with each other when they're at the library or whatever. Using irc, you could embed a chat feature into the very website itself. I know you'd be losing voice chat functionality, but most users seem to prefer typing over voice chat.

    I'm afraid I'm confused. Why is vent superior?

    I already said there are mobile applications, but they really are a poor experience. I have a tablet and Vent is a very poor experience on it. I can't have more than one window at the same time, so it's hard to do something else and follow a conversation at the same time. Unless maybe you have a Windows tablet?
