Default Post your favorite festive music!

Whatever winter holiday you celebrate, post the music that gets you in the holiday spirit!

(Would have revived @digesthisickness' thread from last year, but it's best not to assume she wants more playlist suggestions, lol.)

This Advent piece has had me mesmerized for the past few days:

    Eleanor Roosevelt

    other things become ugly.

    Heck, why not...

There are only about 4 traditional Hanukkah songs, and I can't find my favorite melody (it's been replaced by some new one). Here's a good one, though:

    The translation of the above:
"And (we thank You) for the miracles, for the redemption, for the mighty deeds, for the saving acts, and for the wonders which You have done for our ancestors in those (past) days, at this time (of year)"

And I guess here's the well-known Glee version of another Hanukkah staple.

Although, when I learned it as a kid, one of the verses was different:
    "And while we are playing
The candles are all burning low
    They tell the wondrous story
Of God in all His glory
And remind us of days long ago"

Carol of the Bells is my favorite Christmas song. Of all time. Nearly any version.

I also like more traditional carolers singing older songs in person. They don't sound so cool on the radio or on youtube, but in person I am a fan.

Regular songs are better done by more opera-like performances. I like the drama of the opera-ish tones.

I really am not a fan of the .. er.. cutesy chipmunk-y stuff.

    Oh, and of course.

Kantgirl: Just say "I'm feminine and I'll punch anyone who says otherwise!"
Halla74: Think your way through the world. Feel your way through life.

Cimarron: maybe Prpl will be your girl-bud
    prplchknz: i don't like it

My favorite Advent piece is "O Come, O Come Emmanuel". Some (relatively) recent arrangements that I like:

Have you heard the Pentatonix version? I've been kind of obsessed with it recently.

Well, it's not the holidays without the Messiah!

In my Family, there is the tradition to play Harry Belafonte records on Christmas Eve. This brings joy, light and warmth in these dark days.
