    Default Halloween gift from JK Rowling

    For all you Harry Potter fans out there, JKR's written an extended profile on her least favorite character ever, Dolores Umbridge.

    It was a nice evening jaunt down memory lane for me.

    A little bit on the inspirations behind the character and why she wrote the story:

    I have noticed more than once in life that a taste for the ineffably twee can go hand-in-hand with a distinctly uncharitable outlook on the world. I once shared an office with a woman who had covered the wall space behind her desk with pictures of fluffy kitties; she was the most bigoted, spiteful champion of the death penalty with whom it has ever been my misfortune to share a kettle. A love of all things saccharine often seems present where there is a lack of real warmth or charity.

    So Dolores, who is one of the characters for whom I feel purest dislike, became an amalgam of traits taken from these, and a variety of sources. Her desire to control, to punish and to inflict pain, all in the name of law and order, are, I think, every bit as reprehensible as Lord Voldemort's unvarnished espousal of evil.

    I thought she was going to write another book from the Harry Potter Universe.

    I hope she would.

    That would be amazing but I think that's probably getting our hopes too high.

    15 years down the line and I still haven't outgrown those books, which is pretty awesome. They brought me a lot of joy as a kid. I'm happy I get to revisit every now and then.

    I once wrote a spoof on Harry Potter called "Cynthia and the Magic Kidney Stone," on Wattpad but since I never read the book I couldn't figure out how to make it funny plus I never finish any story I start anyways.

    Olemn slammed his hammer and from the sparks on the metal of his anvil came the spheres of the heavens.

    Sayrah blew life into the spheres and they moved. From her wheel she weaved the names of people in to mystery.

    What if she made a prologue, like Lily and James' full childhood?

    FIXED THAT FOR YOU.

    Kidding. I guess Lily had a thing for jerks in general. Except James was cuter.

    Poor Snape ;_;
