No one needs identification with types, any more than we need rap music or automatic can openers. Some people just find it helps with certain aspects of life.

Why do people need identification with race, or gender, or religion, or occupation, or favorite sports team, or any other distinction we make among humans?
I've been called a criminal, a terrorist, and a threat to the known universe. But everything you were told is a lie. The truth is, they've taken our freedom, our home, and our future. The time has come for all humanity to take a stand...

The complete opposite. Men have reasoned since reason's inception, and reasoned along their will. Look at how many philosophies, many contardictory and incomptible, have spawned with legitimate conviction in the world. Identity is real, and incredibly perceptable. It is a hunt for where we stand.

If someone tested as type ABCD and the description read, "You're a dumbfuck!" how many would likely choose to identify with it? Now, what if someone tested as type DCBA and the description read, "You're a creative genius!" how many would likely choose to identify with it?

    You get the point.

I'd consider it... but only as iconclastic sarcasm reflected back at the system itself.

I don't think anyone needs it. For some, it is pleasing. For others, rejecting the system is pleasing. To each their own.

I don't think it is necessarily a lack of identity or a reflection of locus of control. For me, I have always enjoyed thinking about "selves" - both my self and others' selves, our similarities, differences, nuances, and quirks. Type is pleasing to me in that way, both in how it can be accurate and inaccurate. It is an interesting tool for inquiry and a quick shorthand for those who understand it.

Because people want to fit in or to be a part of a bigger whole.

Its easier to say INFP then explain all the things it contains.

Same reason we use stereotypes and any other grouping.

How many men have this need to fit in the "MAN" box. Its a box.
    Im out, its been fun
