What about Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Hole, Mad Season, Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone, Screaming Trees, L7?

Dirt or Facelift? With or without Lane?

What about post grunge? Seether, Puddle Of Mudd, Shinedown?

Never heard about that bands. Probably new or little known bands, but, as you say hard to pick one as fav.

You talk about underground grunge; pioneers of that sound. Except Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Nirvana is unique; but somewhat depressing to me. Pearl Jam isn't my cup of tea, and Mudhoney is definitely excelent. I forget Stone Temple Pilots ( great band) and Interstate Love Songe, but, AIC is my all time fav. grung band because it have elements of metal

Dirt or Facelift? With or without Lane?
Dirt. Them bones, Would? Angry Chair brilliant. And, I would choose Jar of Flies. Love that sublime sound.

With Lane Staley, but, I love Alice in Chains no matter what.

What about post grunge? Seether, Puddle Of Mudd, Shinedown?
Puddle of Mudd is Ok, but sounds too much like Nirvana, but cute band.

If I must choose my current fav band and song right now it would be

I agree on AIC. Nirvana was the first grunge band I liked so they have very special meaning for me, but AIC are one of the best for sure. Agree on elements of metal, they have the heaviest sound of grunge bands, I like that too.

Jar of Files is very uniq in its sound, my all time favorite is nutshell, rotten apple is great too, anyway all of the songs are worth of listening.

Puddle of Mudd is cool, however I am more a fan of Seether, if you know the band.

I know just the more popular songs from Clash, but they are fine band.

Right now I am kinda obsessed with folk metal, mainly eluveitie - Helvetios and their new album Origins.

mmm, Nirvana is a special band, you can't avoid them when you consider grunge scene and counterculture. One of the most brilliant song I've ever heard is In Bloom. Simply brilliant. And, I'm personally very attached to Something in the way--very sad and proving that Cobain is a true poet- John Lennon of grunge.

If you like folk metal you should hear Ensiferum, and if you like mix of folk, epic, blackened and tribal metal you should hear Crow Black Sky. Not for everyone, but unique.
