    Default Would you testify?

Scenario: You’ve accidentally witnessed the murder of a pregnant woman. The suspect who committed the murder is arrested and it turns out he’s involved in organized crime.

Without your testimony at his trial the killer will go free. With your testimony there is a hundred percent chance of conviction. You are offered witness protection as an option.

So what would you do? Would you testify?

Probably not. If my life would get upended from something I was not involved in I am not going to get involved with it. No matter the level of protection I'd have, I'd also always live in constant fear that I'd get found by the organized crime, I could not handle that. Also, losing who I am not by own choice is not ok with me. It would drive me crazy. I'd experience a whole lot of stress over it.

Call me cruel, but I come first in a lot of situations if my lively hood is put at stake. I only do things like that if I have to.

No one knows, except for the killer, and he's not talking.

    Dunno.

I have kids. It's not just about what I want or what I'd do.

    that's tricky...initial response is absolutely!

but then well i have a family too not fair for two families to be destroyed. i'd have to hope he'd be caught on something else eventually. maybe...idk that's a super shitty position to find yourself in.

I'd never see my family and friends again? Then yes. I'd do it....Actually think I'd enjoy having my life uprooted, depending on where I was placed.

    there's a trick?

I'd testify. Of course I'm not tied down to my life, and he is a career criminal meaning he probably has and will kill again it's that simple for me.
    In no likes experiment.

I'd follow my conscience. I'd probably feel like a very shitty human being if I decided not to do anything. But then, maybe not.

I wouldn't endanger my family & friends by giving a statement that lead to the arrest of a murderer associated with organized crime.
However I'd have no problem identifying the murderer to family or friends of the murder victim. Should the murderer suddenly disappear without a trace, I'd write it off to karmic justice & forget about identifying the POS to the woman's family.
