Learned yesterday, when I was picking up my new glasses, that it's VERY bad to clean your glasses with hand sanitizer. Apparently it damages both the lenses and the frames, making both more brittle.

They weren't even that old less than two years. I superglued it back on (checked and lens guy said it was the apoxy that had come undone, so no fixing it, though it works with the superglue).

What the heck are you supposed to use then?

Hand sanitizers, particularly the alcohol-based ones, will damage plastic. Most lenses are plastic, so...

Just go get some (alcohol-free) lens cleaning solution and a microfibre cloth from an optician. And apply the lens cleaning solution to the cloth, not the lenses.

I use a tiny bit of diluted soap (hand or dish) on my fingertips, then wipe clean with a tissue.

dumped red wine or fruit juice on the carpet? dump salt all over it and rub it in... I'm speaking a big pile of salt and then leave it overnight... when you sweep it up the carpet looks surprisingly clean

I'm generally clueless about house things, but the man is good at that sort of thing... that tip was his when we first started dating and I dumped cranberry juice and vodka on my floor...

Briefly refrigerate onions to reduce tear-inducing effects.

Also, coconut oil takes care of a whole range of issues, from treating damaged/frizzy hair to removing stubborn makeup.

Ah, one more (from my mom): if you don't want ants congregating at your doorstep inside, just sprinkle some dry flour over the area. Deters them for a while, and you can always sweep it up later on.

I know right?? I'll never know for sure, but I mean, fuck.

Fucking Tommy Hilfiger frames don't last for dick. I'll have to ask the lens guy what the odds are that that was the cause. I had a bendy frame that lasted for over 14 years, actually I still have them.

Epsom salt will get rid of fire ants. Just pour a 1/2 cup or so right in the nest. It won't harm the ground & is actually good for a lot of plants.

ETA: When I travel, I always take a couple of suction-hooks with me. (Something like these, although I've never tried these exact ones.) So helpful when I need to hang a wash cloth or scrubbie in the shower. Or hang anything (that's relatively light, of course) any place there's a smooth surface.

Don't know if this qualifies, but I just learned you can take a photo with your iPhone by pressing either volume buttons. And maybe I'm the only one that didnt know this

Well, being a non-iPhone user, I didn't know that either thanks for sharing!

There's a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode about this.
