... oh please don't take my sweet sweet spoiler code away...

Aside from the obvious uses, it's also another way to control information dissemination on a 2D page and emulate RL conversation. Adds interactivity, creates timing/pauses in the information, etc.

To trace the remote in the immediate; the eternal in the ephemeral; the past in the present; the infinite in the finite; these are to me the springs of delight and beauty.” ~ H.P. Lovecraft

I wonder what's behind it. So I click it.

I always use it when I post videos because the loading time is a bitch when a thread's clogged with them.

The way I see spoilers used the most is to deliver some kinda twist or punchline, mostly in good humor. Using spoilers passive-aggressively seems kinda pointless. It's still there for you to see.

Good for current TV Shows/Movie threads.

But when they contain long text, before I click, I'm like "Oh boy, let's spoil something!," then it's just long text, and I'm all, "I wanted to be spoiled, sad face : ("

Maybe if you had a tag, "[REAL LONG TEXT COMING UP!]" then maybe there wouldn't be so much world hunger.

I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm half asleep.
I've had this ice cream bar, since I was a child!

of course, because people would be solving world hunger instead of reading lots of text

    Totally serious.

I'm also annoyed that I have to click on them. It's extra keystrokes and perhaps I'm lazy.

Don't get me wrong - I think they can be quite useful. They're just overused to the point where it's irritating.

It's just how it affects me. Maybe I'm alone in that.

They are extremely useful for when there is discussion in regards to books/tv shows, etc going on. (Although the fact that when the post shows up in your friends' feed the spoiler is not spoilered can be quite irritating.)

Sometimes going for efficiency makes things less efficient.

I'm just expressing an opinion by the way. Don't take it as anything more than that.
