    Oooomg I love that movie.

My dad's a retired Navy petty officer that repaired submarines for a living. After that, he pumped concrete, dispatched the trucks, drove school buses, and 18 wheelers across the country. He's very opinionated, easily swayed by conservative media, and he's kind of racist in one of the more tolerable ways. He's also cool to watch movies and shows with, and he'll help you out whenever you need him. He's loyal and dependable to the bone. Now, he's sick, but getting better slowly, and he's a great guy with a big heart and few words in matters of it. He was my hero as a kid, my mentor as a teenager, and he's a reliable family member as an adult. He's not without flaws.. he has more than some.. but he did a lot of great things for my family and me, and I couldn't ask for a better man to have made me the awesome lady I am today.

Also he kind of smells. He's still a little kid when it comes to baths.

My dad is a Viet Nam vet. He worked in industrial maintenance, but is retired now. He is a feminist and a leftist. He and his gf (a very nice retired elementary school teacher) go to the VFW, garage sales, and casinos.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

My dad is an ESTJ 1w9 (very much fits his type) principal planner for Ocean county in New Jersey. He retires in June, and will then move to central Tennessee 10 miles north of the Alabama border (he already owns the house there). Very intelligent. He's a really good person who wants the best for everyone, and tries his hardest to get that. However, he's as blunt as a mallet and has a hard time empathizing with others and their needs. He's learned over the years to help make this work best for him and others.

My dad is a researcher/professor. ESTJ. Takes life very seriously, and doesn't take shit from anybody.

My dad is a letter carrier for the USPS. He has a Masters in Political Science and used to work as a city manager but hated the corruption and wanted to make his living "by the sweat of his brow," so he made a career change. He's one of my favorite people in the world.

My dad was an ESTP music director and life-insurance salesman with some addiction issues that ended his life last year at the age of 71, after many many years of poor health.

He actually had a great deal of integrity regarding his work (he often got in trouble with his bosses for not making sales quotas, because he was more interested in giving customers what they needed rather than just trying to make sales), but at the same time he had much better relationships with people outside his family than within, as he didn't want to be accountable to those latter relationships; and he was never willing to own up to mistakes or apologize to people he had hurt. Dealing with him could be quite the conundrum, due to the mix of positive and negative.

As far as social interaction goes, I am a mix of personality of my mother and father, and more of my father has been expressed outwardly as I've gotten older and don't mind disrupting things a bit. He never did like being constrained and typically spoke his mind even when it wasn't the most diplomatic approach. That used to unsettle me when young; now I can see some value in that approach.

To trace the remote in the immediate; the eternal in the ephemeral; the past in the present; the infinite in the finite; these are to me the springs of delight and beauty.” ~ H.P. Lovecraft

My father is an INTJ 5w6 sp/so working in the Swedish weapon industry. He is pretty geeky and loves Linux more than anything, he also loves cats and is a vegan. He is a pretty cool guy, except for the weapon industry-thing. We also tend to not agree a lot with each other when it comes to politics. He had a brief period when he played ukulele a lot, he has like five of them.
