I know meanness, fussiness, and neuroticism could, in theory, be mutually exclusive. But Christ in a handbasket, do they often come hand in hand.

ps - you're welcome for the song.

    (Incidentally, that's a very E4 song.)

I don't fully understand what you're trying to say and it makes me feel bad.

Also, by meanness, I don't mean actual meanness, I mean a little bit of healthy aggression and playfighting.

I would not like to be thought of as mean, so I guess that bugs me a little bit but I would also like to know about it if it was a real concern.

Yes, it's a very e4 song just like my I hate everything cat is an e4.

Why does it make you feel bad to not understand me?

I'm saying that since meanness, neuroticism, and fussiness are so often linked, a part of me couldn't help to see this as a potential contradiction. Contradictions are only human, but I'm curious as to how you would reconcile this in your own mind.

Because veiled criticism confuses me. I don't know how to react.

I agree that meanness, neuroticism and fussiness are often but not invariably linked ... but not in me, I hope. Like I said, I was joking in the post about the merits of being mean, so there's not much of a contradiction to be resolved in my mind, I guess.

I veiled my criticism because I didn't want to be an asshole, but I still wanted to contribute to the thread.

    Re: your explanation - acknowledged.

    Mmmk.
This is the thing. It doesn't matter if the criticism is veiled or not, I'll still take it personally, because that's the way I am. However, veiled criticism is more difficult for me to deal with, because, like I said, if I don't know exactly what's being said, I have no idea what to think or how to react, which is frustrating like a sneeze that disappears at the last moment.

So, I guess, just be an asshole.

Now that you've made me completely paranoid, I feel like that picture represents what you think of my thread.

Nothing wrong with being a huggie bear.
Only she who attempts the absurd can achieve the impossible... and then some.
