    God no! We don't need to be mini-me to PerC.
    Far be it for me to say anything positive about PerC, as it seems you can get banned if an administrator sees you prefer dogs over cats, but to me, the visible likes you see are kind of an indicator on whether or not you're, well, a likeable person. AND AREN'T WE ALL JUST TRYING TO GET ALONG??

    Ok I'm done.

    Edit: Ok I'm not done.

    Leave the "Likes" for Facebook.
    Please.
    The "Likes" on Facebook are a popularity/bragging contest. The likes on personality forums like this seem to be more based on insightful or humorous or interesting comments, not "Hey look at me everyone I'm in Paris and you're not!!" like,like,like,like,like,like,like,like,like.

    It seems to me that reputation system here as it currently functions, is integral to the forum culture. It's easy to implement a plug-in and have it operational with an hour to provide those likes but I'm not sure people would want it. Everybody that is already here knows how it works. It is confusing for new users though. When I first joined the site, I was giving people blank reps for a while till someone was kind enough to tell me what I was doing wrong. Maybe we should put something in the introductory email.

    I just added this to the intro email

    I'll add one helpful hint about our site. The Reputation system works a little differently here than it does other places. We don't have likes and don't assign points. We use reps here as a quick and easy way for you to provide a comment back to someone on their post. That's all we use them for .

    It's like Whose Line is it Anyway. Everything's made up, and the points don't matter.

    you can get liked plenty in a rep. What's nice is you're not restricted to a single, one-word reaction.
    You hem me in -- behind and before;
    you have laid your hand upon me.
    Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,

    Rep was cumulative. When people had a lot of rep, the rep they gave was worth more. So there were little cliquey rep circle jerks where friends repped the hell out of each other and distorted whatever little meaning the rep system had. IIRC, that's why people got mad and we did away with it. This is why we can't have nice things.
