Okay, at this point, or in this state, or whatever, this is no longer optional or negotiable, or something like.

    I'm going to bed.

I don't remember ever being able to do that, cos I don't think I have since I was a toddler.

Depends. I know some people if they go to bed so close to the time they have to get up they feel worse then if they had just stayed up all night. Also how long does it take you to fall asleep? It takes me about 2-3 hours on average to dose off. I don't know what you should do, as I also know others who benefit from a short nap before getting up. So do what you think is best, though I think at this point you've figured it out. Also how many nights have you been staying up late? I remember last week I got an average of 3 hours a night then didn't sleep for over 24 hours I ended up crashing the next night around 11:30 and woke about 8 the next day. I would do whatever you think would be best for you in terms of functioning the next day. I didn't feel like I was functioning I kept hearing my room mates phone on the plane even though neither her or her phone was with me. Though sometimes when I haven't slept for days people are impressed that I'm able to still function.

I never used to sleep because of the stress of school.

And the brain is at its most relaxed at 2 or 3 am, so I used to just succumb to Billie Holiday's tender voice until daybreak, when I would do my homework.

After school, I would watch The Simpsons at 6, then go to sleep until around midnight.

A couple of times a fortnight I would get a good nights sleep, and be a completely different person in school. Colmena... a succession of lame tragedies. I should have home-schooled myself. But it was a good method for keeping out of my parents' way.

-How beautiful, this pale Endymion hour.
    -What are you talking about?
-Endymion, my dear. A beautiful youth possessed by the moon.
-Well, forget about him and get to bed.
    -Yes, my dear.

Well, I passed out right after I posted above, about 8:30. Slept til 11:30. Feel pretty crappy, but semi-functional (maybe 30%), and I'll definitely be ready to crash tonight. Still haven't figured out a way to justify another Panera mocha today, dammit. Guess I'll need to hold off til tomorrow morning.

I do this WAY too often. During the summer, I tend to stay up until past dawn, then sleep until late-afternoon or evening. A lot of people probably feel the day is passing them by if they sleep past noon. For me, I usually feel that way if I sleep past five pm. "Damn, I'm really slipping. I probably could have at least woken up around three-thirty."
    They're running just like you
    For you, and I, wooo
So people, people, need some good ol' love
