I fear I will die alone because I'm too fiercely independent and emotionally repressed to be a good mate to anyone... even though deep down inside, I'm a hopeless romantic. Or maybe I'm just afraid that the ideal mate for me doesn't exist in the real world.

    Too angsty for this thread?

Perhaps you will fall in love with someone who is fiercely indepencent and emotionally repressed, even though they are a romantic, and who is afraid the ideal mate doesn't exist for them in the real world.

Should you fall in love with such a person you would be the ideal person to understand them.
There is NOTHING--absolute nothing--half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing.

@grey_beard I'm not interested in any masochism, merely to pursue another art form, and the art of intimacy and trust. In a tangible way.

@JMT As for that first part there's no need to feel conflicted, you can put your mind to rest. It's perfectly natural to fantasize about being forced or doing forcing in regards to sexual fantasy. It's acting on it in a way that hurts others/without their consent that is wrong. In our minds scenarios can play out perfectly and to the correct degrees of our liking, and no one actually gets hurt. We can experience the adrenaline rush of these things. One might fantasize about rape for instance, but does that mean they want to be raped in real life necessarily? No. Play it out with a willing partner? Maybe. Psychology is pretty interesting, you might benefit from delving into it.

Yes. You're very right. I agree. I guess I just feel conflicted in all ways due to being different. Thank you for your response

Also, I'm so used to things going over people's heads in real life (mostly strangers, cashiers, etc.) that I say something just so I can chuckle at my own joke.

    Ya. Jokes for me first.

Nah, I know how you feel. I'm just trying to stay positive. But at this point, it's not a huge fear for me, just a growing, nagging thought.
