It takes a while for our minds to catch up to reality.
Lol we're officially an Internet couple

Why don't we call ourselves 'good mates'?

Of course this will be a steep learning curve for you, for just as eskimos have 20 words for snow, we have 20 meanings for 'mate'.

For instance, a mate can be a life long friend for whom you would give your life, or at the other extreme, you might be called 'mate' by the New South Wales Right of the Labor Party, and that is like being sent flowers by the mafia.

But perhaps the most common use of 'mate' is an ironic use that gently upbraids a mate for not doing the right thing.

    Right mate?

No, no. I ask right mate?, and you reply, right mate. It is a question followed by a statement.

I often think about what would happen if I left the USA to live in another country. I'd love the thrill of it (of living in a different country, that is) but am not sure if I could pull it off realistically (though I'd really want to!).
Only she who attempts the absurd can achieve the impossible... and then some.

A couple days ago my most direct coworker threw away the tacos someone gave both of us thinking they were only for him. He took one giant bite and threw all three away. I still don't get why, even if he did think they were all his, he didn't ask anyone first if they wanted them.

After about an hour of wonderous fury, I found humor in the situation. Once I grabbed a guy's bag of tacos thinking they were mine - I'd ordered like two bacon and egg and ended up with severeal carne guisada and barbacoa instead. Sweet trade. Never found out who's they were.

But today... today a guy accused me of not rotating his tires, "to save time" on my part. I could understand myself forgetting, but I wouldn't intentionally cut corners from the work I'm being paid for. It was insulting. He had his tires marked, that's how he knew I didn't - "the right rear". I didn't argue, even though I knew I was about to put his tires back in the original spot, and sure enough, when I brought his vehicle back to him for the second time, he noticed he had made a mistake.

I was fuming, I felt incredibly smug I was right and he was wrong. Fuck, it felt good, that moron.

All I kept returning to was that I wish I could release the emotion, but it was locked. So here I am, in hopes that next time, the ordeal will be resolved with swift comprehension.
