PC. I'd take a Mac if someone gave it to me for free. Never shell out that much for one, though, not even with my damn student discount.
Yeah I got mine as a birthday present, I think when it's time for a new computer I'll have to switch back to PC unless my dad is feeling generous and wants to get me another one for birthday or christmas. Or if I'm making any money *laughs at the possibility of actually making money* I don't have to switch back to PC, I just don't think I'll be able to justify spending that much on a computer.
The thing I don't get about mac/windows/linux flame wars (in general, not saying this thread is) is they way those dorks argue you'd think an OS was getting voted off the island. No one is taking their OS away. Everyone can use whatever they want.
Every OS sucks in its own way. You can't just switch to a mac you have to buy the hardware too, windows and linux will run on the same generic pc hardware. If you like apple's hardware then you can run all three OSs.
Linux is a colossal pain in the ass to even get running let alone use. You really have to know what you're doing just to use it. It is not easy, simple and doesn't "just work." If it works for you then it works for you.
Windows does take some work to secure and you do have to be careful but as long as you don't do anything really stupid it's a great platform. It's kind of frankensteined, the add new font window hasn't changed since windows 3.1 and is still there in vista.
All that matters is that you use what works for you. The n00bs who are on a crusade to convince everyone else to use what they like are in desperate need of sunlight and fresh air. I've heard, read rather, a vista fanboy say that if you don't like the new aero interface you are stupid. Apparently it's not a matter of aesthetics.
I have one of each. I use the PC for just dinking around the internet like I'm doing right now, because it's more comfortable down here where the old PC is. I use the iMac for anything that actually requires having memory, a decent processor, audio/video/cam, dvd's, games, printing, scanning, photos, web page creation, recording my part of the MBTIc rap, etc.
I don't understand fanboys, either. It what works for you I've never been like MACs are the best in the whole world. Mac for me is the best, and my dad likes Linux. so yeah, I don't get it when people say something is the best. or when people say this is the best cake in the world, it bugs me. I know it's implied that "it's the best cake in the world I've tried" but I so want to find every single cake and make the person who claimed that cake was the best to try every single cake in the world.
