My son looking through my bookshelves for something to read for the first time got this puzzled look on his face whereupon he looks at me and says "Mom? You're really cool!"

The second best compliment I got was from my brother who said "I see you as a very wise down to earth person".

A former law prof (he was a Harvard undergrad and Duke law alum) told me that between the two of us, we had the intellectual capacity to build a nuclear weapon.

Back in October 2011 my best friend said he liked one of my design ideas and thought it should have been implemented. I was kind of shocked and at first I thought I heard him wrong. I mean, pretty much nobody is ever keen on my proposals. It was like I had entered the Twilight Zone.

So I guess that wasn't exactly a compliment, but it's close enough for me.

Hey all, thank you for your posts on this thread. I love reading about the things that warm your souls because it gives me ideas about how to affirm the people I care about.

My ex and I were set up by one of my roommates, so we hadn't actually met in person before our first date. Afterwards he told me I had a beautiful smile and that "absolutely nothing about me disappointed him." I pretty much melted.

Really cute! Two years ago, a guy in my biology lab looked at me and said, "That smile - how can you *resist* that smile?" And it made me swoon. But it never worked out.
