I noticed that about the ex I mentioned. He lied about things one would never need to lie about. He made statements like "I'm allergic to fruit. ALL fruit." .. Like every single one. ever. I thought it was fructose he was allergic to somehow. Eventually while working with his mother I inquired, and she said he was allergic to pineapple, and disliked oranges as a kid. Nothing else. ... I never understood it. It was little bullshit like that. Why would you need to make that up? Why not say you hate fruit... or say you're allergic to pineapple and hate oranges? Why make anything out of that?

It was like those little lies created a quirkier, more interesting person.. which I could only understand in that it was easier for him to keep making up details about a fake person he thought he was vs the boring, pretty shitty guy he actually was.

I find this to be more common than I ever noticed in high school.

I can see this. I felt pretty hurt when my parents would keep information from me because they didn't want me to worry about home while I was deployed. But then I'd worry for them anyways, so it was just like I was left out of the loop and forgotten AND now I'm worried.
