    I was 23 at an airport in St. Louis on my way to Fort Knox, KY from South Korea and I had a 4 hour layover. I went to this bar and pulled up and ordered a drink. I did the look left/right thing and this lady, prolly mid 30s returned my glance with that stare. I was SURE she was looking at someone else. I turned to my drink awkwardly and looked around cautiously to see who it might be. There was no one else on the bar though. I glanced her way and she was STILL staring at me. I've never felt so much like prey before or since. Talk about AWKWARD. The story ended "happily" as I wasn't due back to base for another day and a half...

    The End

    P.S. The "proper" response to this is stare back and approach, I've since learned.
    "The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... Some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age. Stranger? Depending on my luck odds, I'd either entertain myself with a stare back.. or if they didn't find that funny and got creepy, I'd try to walk away from the situation or re-adjust it somehow.

    Friend? I'd assume they were being funny.

    Someone I'm already interested in? Like someone I've been dating? I could see this being a little seductive in the right contexts.. I mean.. a lot of faces on people look really dumb.. but when you're in the act of things, and passionate, they don't seem dumb at all.

    Initial reaction would probably be something like this:

    There's more seduction in subtlety than creepy caricatures. But who knows what might develop from using such a stare when you meet the right sort of people who can appreciate being surprised like this. Play on humor, and you just might succeed.

    You hem me in -- behind and before;
    you have laid your hand upon me.

    Some men think it's super sexy to do this shit. It's not, hermanos. It's really fucking gross.

    Hmm depends, there are some here who could get away with it.

    See above.

    Depends on who does it, tbh. It can be a really hot game of staring, if the guy knows how to play properly, not creepily. Tbh, the original inspiration for this thread does nothing for me. I'm likely to just roll my eyes at him. @DiscoBiscuit 's avi otoh...now that could be fun

    Ive recreationally experimented with a female variant of that look at college. The response was one of ambivalence, though most guys couldn't keep from engaging me when I did that, while at the same time squirming like mad. One went as far as saying: get those eyes away from me, unless you wanna be jumped coz that's a semen-requesting look.

    Intense staring apparently does translate as intense sexual suggestiveness
