Halloween is an Americanism that is being adopted here.

But it seems so fake and phoney and so shallow, that we all feel like Americans for a while.

Are you saying that Americans are phony, and fake?

Forget American-style Halloween, and look into Samhain. That is where the deeper meaning can be found. Astronomically, it is the cross-quarter between the Fall equinox and the Winter solstice.

I love learning where stuff really comes from.

I don't like halloween anyways. I can kinda get why it's a "dark" holiday though now. lol

The Mexican "Day of the Dead" bears a closer likeness to the Gaelic origin.

I LOVE this time of year. It could be fall all year long and I would be happy. Longer, chilly nights, leaves changing, harvest, putting stuff up for winter, flannel sheets on the beds.....
Exactly how I feel, the people who celebrate this time of year in writing or something, like Ray Bradbury or Cinemassacre I think really get this point too.

    I love reading Ray Bradbury…
    It's a shame he passed away…

I love halloween, it is my favourite holiday. I like its origin, the decorations, the vibe/nature of it is magical, and your world becomes a theme park filled with creatures and possibilities--That world is temporarily a little more exciting and adventurous.
