I've never seen anyone attack her on Facebook, but I've seen posts ranging from quoting her for life wisdom or comparing her looks favorably to modern actresses. So, I'm going to guess it's because people are sick of her.

    Where is "here"?

    Where is "here"?
Who knew what I had said was worthy of such a response.

I've just seen many people use a certain "quote" from her in response to when someone confronts them when they're basically being a prick to everyone around them.

    Specifically

I haven't read much about the woman's life, nor do I know of anything else she may of said. So I'm not attempting to attack anything she has said or done.

I just find it gets old fast, when you see people basically use that quote in response to someone actually introducing the possibility that they could be a prick.

I don't really hate her, I hate when teenage or twentysomething girls take her famous quotes out of context to justify their bitchy self-entitled behavior and mistake it for girl power or whatever it's called. And dammit, I just hate seeing her quotes all over the place. Do something new.

300-pound girls who defend their obesity by saying Marilyn Monroe was a "big girl" are quite annoying, too.

Most of all, I hate the Marilyn Monroe fans who are probably going to report this post for its perceived sexism.

Curiously, I never understood why people thought Marilyn Monroe was appealing. Over the past few years I've started to understand why people would think she is attractive physically.

Marilyn Monroe and Child Sexual Abuse

Marilyn Monroe is a reflection of ourselves.

When we look at an image of Marilyn Monroe, we see the reflection of ourselves as in a mirror.

But as we look in the mirror of Marilyn Monroe, what don't we see?

We don't see that Marilyn Monroe was sexually abused as a child.

And we don't see that Marilyn Monroe committed suicide in despair.

And Marilyn Monroe was in despair because no one, least of all us, and certainly not the President of the United States of America, John Kennedy and his brother, the Attorney General of the United States of America, Robert Kennedy, listened to her pain and suffering as a sexually abused child.

So rather than listening to the suffering of a sexually abused child, we, the President and the Attorney General, simply exploit her, just as Marilyn Monroe was sexually exploited as a child.

And we exploit her because she is vulnerable.

The decent nurture vulnerability, while the indecent exploit vulnerability.

I think you're romanticizing her a little there, mate.

I am rubbing your nose in reality, while those who exploit Marilyn Monroe, including the President and his brother, the Attorney General, romanticize her.

But how interesting that your first response is to deny reality.

And it is this denial of reality that is romantic.

I am not denying reality at all. My first post in this thread is reality.

Boo hoo if she was abused as a kid. That doesn't give you a free pass to go and be an absolute sloot and a general shit head of a human being as an adult, and using her quotes doesn't give you a free pass to go and emulate her. Although, emulate her if you wish.

(Oh and edit: I do think that child abuse is a terrible, serious thing, by the way. I'm not saying it isn't.)
