PS. Hey, where'd you get that hat???

Don't forget about the "You Got Your Peanut Butter in My Chocolate" and the "Most Disturbing Mental Image Since Alien's Birth" achievements as well.

i rarely think to send them unless i'm trying to post on their wall and realize i can't or assume i might not be able to until i do... i think people have friended me for the same reason. i have gotten the urge to tho sometimes if i just decide i like someone...i just don't often think to do it. maybe i should more.

^^ yah, as above. I rarely add anyone. I do not really enjoy the whole friending process... but I chose to make my profile available to friends only after someone joined the site to harass me..so I suppose it is very handy to have the settings and options. That being said I rarely have visitor messages anymore...maybe something to do with the culling.

I'm glad there are people who do actively add people, as it does make me feel all warm and fuzzy; It's like being chosen by The Claw.

Either they make a string of insightful, witty, or charming posts (I highly respect those things); or they've friended me first and put themselves on my radar.

Close to the heuristic that I use in real life

The best benefit is that friends' recent posts show up on the ol' homepage (My Friends' Activity), which lets me read more of their stuff and points me to good threads that I might've missed out on.

Friending on this forum is purely functional, cant friend people you have on ignore and have to friend people to leave visitor messages.

I work pretty much the same with facebook when I think about it but prefer smaller numbers.

I extend friend requests when someone posts things that somehow impress or interest me. It can be just one really insightful post but is usually more.
