I feel the same way. I kind of resent valet parking, because it seems like just a way to get a few more bucks out of you and to feed the inner big shot in people that are so inclined. It reminds me of those guys in the men's rooms of fancy restaurants that expect a buck to hand you a paper towel. When I'm already paying a premium to eat at a nice place, I don't need to be handing out money for a bunch of things I can easily handle myself.

    I don't think I've ever used a valet.

I tip absolutely rock all on average. As my learned friend points out, if you pay your staff better than a sweat shop sweeper they don't require them.

I think we made an impact in Vegas though. We tipped $5 each time for our "free" drinks whilst gambling but for one southern comfort and coke, one vodka and coke and one red bull we figured sod it... it's still cheap. The poor dear kept asking if we wanted change
Isn't it time for a colourful metaphor?

I tip based on how hot the waitress is.

What if you get a waiter? I guess you have to check out his butt first.

But then you're going to pay more for your meal anyway because labor costs will make them raise the menu prices.

Hah! I typically tip $1 a drink in Vegas, plus a $5 chip at the end if I've been a winner.

Ask to be re-seated of course. Monday at lunch we ate at On The Border and got a dude, I think he was on some kind of meth. I'm definitely not sitting in his section again. Most places I go I already know who to request.

WORD. I don't mind valet if it's a city where there's really nowhere to park. But I don't like it if I'm capable of parking. And I HATE bathroom attendants. They make me feel so awkward. They had one at the House of Blues when we went there recently, which I thought was odd. I don't think of the HOB as being upscale.

This would probably lead to extremely prompt service and a nice tip!
