Jeez, that's some pretty nasty shit.

I hope they figure out who it was, and it's impressive the community is pulling together too in support of the family.

This seems like the opening sequence in an X-Men prequel. Also, I feel so, so terrible for the recipients of this letter; Whoever wrote this is scum.

But I feel even more terrible for laughing out loud in a quiet office over the hyperbole usage in this letter. Like, as if his existence is such an intrusive and chaotic element in the neighborhood, as if his sole existence is causing the foundation of the modern family to crumble -- Husbands are running off with their secretaries, and Junior is skipping class to smoke pot and listen to rap music, and it's all that darn autistic kid's fault! Will somebody please think of the children (non-autistic ones)!

"Nobody wants you living here and they don't have the guts to tell you!!!"
From an anonymous letter. I'm sure many others have made the same point, but still....
'One of (Lucas) Cranach's masterpieces, discussed by (Joseph) Koerner, is in it's self-referentiality the perfect expression of left-hemisphere emptiness and a precursor of post-modernism. There is no longer anything to point to beyond, nothing Other, so it points pointlessly to itself.' - Iain McGilChrist

"Suppose it didn't," said Pooh, after careful thought.

The neighborhood has come together to try and figure out who sent the letter and to also show support for Max and his family.
So much for "Nobody wants you living here and they don't have the guts to tell you!!!!!

I've spent years living with, working with, and working for people with special needs. I've also spent time working against euthanasia and assisted suicide laws.

    It's a repulsive letter.

But pressing charges... that's ridiculous, too, if it occurs under Canada's stupid hate speech laws.

So you are, in essence, arguing that a proper and free society not only ought to allow such things in order to maintain free speech (which I am inclined to agree with), but that said free speech takes precedence over others' need to feel that they have a safe and decent place to live, as well as the community's ability to regulate what it considers acceptable behavior within its' boundaries?
