Default People who curse on the internet but not in real life

Have you ever met/known someone who cursed a lot on the internet but not in real life?

I have not. My experience has been that people who curse online also curse in real life.

Just wondering what other people's experiences have been. I am specifically asking about people who curse online but not in real life, not vice versa.

I can't think of anyone in particular.

I curse far more often in "real life" than online. It's just kind of a casual addition to speech. Online, I usually bother to write a swear word if a particularly strong, negative reaction is coming over me.

I was about to reply to this and be like "this is a thing?" but then I realized I know someone like this His older brother never curses at all either.

It's probably because their dad has an incredibly intimidating presence. He rarely talks or asks you to do something, but when he does you do it with no questions asked. I mean my dad is stiff, but their dad is on a completely different level. Just being near him makes you feel like you're walking on eggshells. I don't know how else to describe it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has them scared to curse. The guy I know actually let a few slip when I saw him a few months ago, so it's a slow adjustment. I'm not sure if his older brother will ever let loose though.

This is me. At least if the websites I'm on contain a lot of cursing, I'll let loose. TypoC is lower on it.

So you mimic your online environment while you're online.... how come you don't do the same in real life?

I was going to say it was more likely that I curse online than in real life. Then I remembered I stepped up my real-life swearing a bit to keep pace.

In my two gaming groups, I actually pulled it back a bit because I realized no one else really swore. I think it's kind of funny that I'm the only girl in the one group, and I'm the only one to occasionally let a swear go.

I cringe when I hear people literally pronounce: "LOL". It saps the respect I have for my generation right out of me through a bendy straw.

What about a crazy straw? It has a few extra curves to throw at you.
