    Judging people may also be the way we keep ourselves (or others) from improving. It's difficult to say when it is justified or not, but yes, I do often enjoy it. Sometimes it makes me feel bad, but rarely. It's definitely gratifying.

    i feel bad when i judge people. i was waiting on my bf at the grocery store and just standing there silently judging some woman who i thought was being dismissive and rude to the check out girl....i had decided she was a mean drunk even...it went on and on... i don't normally do this (i must have been bored)
    but i didn't see her look at the chic once or smile or anything and then she walks right over to me and tells me how pretty my dress is with a big ol warm smile on her face.

    Tsk tsk, she was supposed to compliment your intelligence.

    She's clearly a sexist who thinks women should be valued according to how they look.

    It's also sexist of you to find that kind of behavior flattering.

    Tsk tsk.

    I judge people all the time according to my sense of morality. Other than that, I try not to judge. I dislike people who judge others because of the clothes they wear, the music they listen to, etc.
    I really like cats and food.

    I hate when I do it too, and really try not to.

    Related, I feel really uncomfortable when people try to involve me in gossip. I'm not going to say I never participate, but I have a habit of un-forcefully defending the person being talked about or saying something general about people that kind of excuses their behavior.

    This is partially because I feel judgement so acutely I think. I'm just so aware of how little grace is given to people when I listen to all of the judgments and criticisms and reasons for being mad or hurt. I try not to let it paralyze me, but I also use that to try to explain for others like I wish I could explain for myself. Even though I might personally be more affected than most, I still think it's damaging and like that I try to stand against it.
    You hem me in -- behind and before;
    you have laid your hand upon me.

    You really shouldn't, but I do it all the time. I am very, very critical of others who are not exactly like myself. My psychologist says judging people stems from self-hate, which I suppose is true. I have low self-esteem.
