I'd leave the country. Forget the 12 hours of being able to get away with anything: it gives someone the other 8748 hours per year to plan.

"I'd build a bunker," you might say, but someone really determined to kill you would figure out a way to get in beforehand or would prevent you from reaching it come 'Purge' time.

To keep yourself safe you'd have to live in complete isolation. I mean complete. No contact whatsoever. At that point you might as well pull up stakes and GTFO.

If it were global I'd possibly fake my own death & live in seclusion with Jack.

If it were global, yeah, you wouldn't have any other choice. The only other option might be to build an alliance with people opposed to "The Purge" and incite revolution. That would require a lot of trust though. I'm not sure it would be worth the risk.

Yeah I don't have that kinda trust at all. Just arm myself & fake die in a blaze of gore.. and glory. Mostly gore.

I'm not sitting on a load of violent impulses I keep under control only because of fear of legal consequences, so I can't see now it would be cathartic. I'd rather have something like a Biblical seven year cancellation of debts and I think that would be a lot more beneficial to society. You could still have a party, just no more violence than the typical drunken brawls.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

I didn't mean to insinuate you had that kind of trust. I didn't think you did. Except for Jack.

    Damn straight, haha.

However in any other human destruction scenario (say zombies or aliens/undead aliens, etc), I'd summon up all my xSTP friends. They have the survival skills.
I could give them someone to make fun of, & they can help me to.. not die.

If I was a government official, I would, because according to the movie it's illegal for civilians to kill government officials, effectively making me a God.

Oh yeah, and I'd kill that little boy (at least I think it was a boy, because it's hard to tell if boys are really boys these days with all the feminism running rampant) with the stupid "creepy"-looking RC baby doll who let the black guy in, causing the whole home invasion in the first place.

I've always been intrigued by that, along with a couple of other things, a rule about land and land being left fallow and whatever grows being the properly of any passing individual or animal is another example, because taken altogether they are a more radical shopping list of social and economic measures than are dreamt of in most of the socialist or other radical sources.

The laws prohibiting usury and attitudes to money in most scriptures would make a lot of banking practices impossible or at least cut down a lot of the financial transactions and speculations which caused or ramped the most recent crisis. Overall I get the impression reading them that finance isnt thought of as something which would constitute as large a part of the economy of any of the countries which consider themselves even nominally Christian.

Jubilee is very different from purge though. I think this purge idea is actually something which was derived from an old, old episode of Star Trek.
