    Default What is friendship?

Friendship is always new and friendship is old
Friendship is stories that someday will be told
Friendship is knowing you are part of all things
Friendship has soul and friendship has wings.

These are my thoughts. What are yours?

    thinking of you

Dunno. I have difficulty with the difference between acquaintanceship and friendship. I have a hard time considering people friends.

"Your friends... What kind of... people are they? I wonder... Do these people... think of you... as a friend?

Your true face... What kind of... face is it? I wonder... The face under the mask... Is that... your true face?

The right thing... what is it? I wonder... if you do the right thing... does it make... everybody... happy?

What makes you happy? I wonder... what makes you happy... does it make... others happy, too?"

In your case do you consider everyone an 'acquaintance' by default even though a third party might objective consider some of them to be 'friends'? I've met people who do the opposite: everybody is a 'friend' by default, even though their 'friendship' is tenuous at best and most people would consider them acquaintances.

In my case I don't think I have any problems differentiating between friends and acquaintances, I simply don't have many friends. This is so mostly because I either: 1) stay distant and don't let friendships grow or, 2) reflexively push friends away if I feel they're getting too 'close'.

Me too. I have lots of friendly acquaintances, but very few people I call friends. I don't think I push people away though, exactly. I am just very selective about who I allot time to, and that obviously restricts how many true friendships I have. But that's okay with me.
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

Oh I definitely push people away. It's not that I don't like people. It's more... I think it would be better for them if they were not my friend.

    Seems unlikely to me.

I am the same way. I only have like 1 or 2 people who I would consider "friends". Everyone else is entertaining.
