I had a similar vibe that rasofy had.

Many of the avatars from you, I notice many of them had a darker theme.

I like this analogy. An avatar is generally one's primary visual presence on the forum, and generates conscious and subconscious reactions. I am very picky about avatars. Sometimes I choose them with a specific purpose or event in mind, but usually it is just something I like, that I feel represents me somehow. My current avatar and quote were posted just after the Boston Marathon bombings, in recognition of the significance of that part of the country.

I wonder how many real life relationships that were started on the internet go back on avatars. They are like cheap magic, tho you should know better you cant help but wonder

Yup, they're a reflection of their personality.

    Especially if they're 'ironically' chosen.

I find that screenames and sigs have more of an effect on how people perceive me.

I cut out my own pictures and put them on the screen. Then people can be whatever I want them to be.

There is no longer anything to point to beyond, nothing Other, so it points pointlessly to itself.' - Iain McGilChrist

"Suppose it didn't," said Pooh, after careful thought.
