I think this is an important 'test case study' (or whatever you would call this kind of thing) move though because you need to cross-check many variables. It will interesting to see if a pattern emerges. I think this is a great idea.

I'd have passed. And, if other kids would have been in there, I probably would have watched to see what they did and what happened if they failed. Then felt smug about my having two marshmallows.

At first I thought this thread was about hazing at fraternities to carry the marshmallow across the line. Nevermind lol.

Before the middle of kindergarten? Fail. I used to get repeated spankings for doing things like crawling up into the cabinets and trying to snatch twinkies or off-limit hard candy that was on top of the refrigerator (I believe it was the challenge more than the candy that interested me in the on top of the refrigerator deal, though).

However, I remember in kindergarten - remember this clearly - realizing that children who ate more slowly still had their graham crackers and milk, and I was already done. I actually remember the moment I sat in my little tiny blue chair, looking across the brown wooden table mournfully and having this epiphany.

I have no idea. I've never really liked marshmallows. So I could have just wanted one anyway and not two, and just eaten the one immediately. As far as delayed gratification is concerned, I am sometimes great at it and sometimes terrible.

I also realized this sentence is a metaphor for my entire personality.

I would have passed it*. I was a very serious, calculating child. I only learned to be silly after I grew up.

*But probably not for marshmallows though. Stuffed toys and books, perhaps.
