    Default You poem you fail.

So, come all express yourself through poetry great and terrible, i'll mostly be doing the terrible.

    Ok lets begin.

He wore his coat right to his chin,

he was tall and built quite thin.

But then a wind did blow his way,

and exposed him to the light of day.

And there outside, for all to see

    a hunched sad figure.

    Exposed to you and me.
'One of (Lucas) Cranach's masterpieces, discussed by (Joseph) Koerner, is in it's self-referentiality the perfect expression of left-hemisphere emptiness and a precursor of post-modernism. There is no longer anything to point to beyond, nothing Other, so it points pointlessly to itself.' - Iain McGilChrist

Suppose a tree fell down, Pooh, when we were underneath it?"
"Suppose it didn't," said Pooh, after careful thought.
    Piglet was comforted by this.
    - A.A. Milne.

    Small wonder opens it's eyes,

Looking round what does it see?

Drawn to thought like life to existing.

Such open variety, for all to share.

But wonder ages and withers if not tended,

    if taken for granted.

    Then others bemoan their state,

    locked in and closed off.

Feed the wonder, open the lock.

Broken it at last leads that notion,

which above others is welcome to to be shared.

No these are mine . All terribleness is my own. Made them up for this thread.

May as well post one, I used to write a few bits here and there. Not so much anymore; prefer story writing.

The soul of your shoes glistens
like the sweat on my brow in the
    presence of the glaring moon.

The blood runs down the worn leather
like a stream on a rocky mountain.
And I'm stood at the bottom collecting
every drop, at the expense of my taste buds.

Your eyes are wide, but mania cant be held
back with chains; it escapes like a rabid fox
to consume the victim inside out.

My other side refuses to watch
this horror from a sealed prison.
You try to crawl away, breaking your nails
on the rough surface, but still going nowhere.

I laugh. but its my other side,
    I swear.
    And when the crimson ceases,
    Something is missing from you.

    Something is missing from me;
    it's me.

I don't know why he was sad.
    What happened wasn't bad.
    Exposed, his testicles
    Were remarkable spectacles
And made all the ladies quite glad.

    I'll give you a rose
    I'll give you my clothes
I'll take you to places no one knows
No more, no more, no more

Couple weeks ago, @Jonnyboy challenged me to crap out a poem in 5 minutes or less, & I met that dare with the following nonsense:

    Simmers 'neath oblivious hills/
    sands of time glow hotter/
erupting panic dissolves sediments of sentiment/
    stones bleed fire/
a headless mountain screams smoke; bitter ash chokes out the sky/
fear casacades- corrodes humanity, buries humility alive/
Earliest mirrors were made from volcanic glass.

I have lyrics & things I've written before, which took more time/actual focus (though who knows if they're any better/worse than the crap above, haha), but those are private.

-Also- to my opening story.. I challenged @Jonnyboy in return. 5-minute poem. He took a bit longer, but it was decent. *cough*

tether the beast taut to your breast,
for a peep, unuttered, is a mind, at rest.

if unhinged your trap, the tether does snap,
    the creature, unchained, repute, collapsed!

though the brute be not of a temperate breed,
fret not, good keeper, take ye heed,
a remedy, in form, a simple creed:

do not allow to gape, your gate,
with no sense, unclenched, to mitigate,
the might of the amorphous beast, set free!
    O clumsy, damning, stupidity.

The subject matter can double as an apt description of my poem-writin' skills.
