A short poem I wrote for @Evee earlier on Vent. It is decent enough to re-post.

Imagine the scene of a clouded night:
Within the darkness a soul burns bright.
    Struggling to resolve his contradictions,
The anguish can be felt within his visions.

Do not reject your guiding star,
Embrace the man you truly are.

    someone got the last coffee
    i'll trudge back to bed
before the dawn pokes through the hazy cloud of dust
stirred up by morning scuffles between pup and cat

    hey
    how
    are
    you
    standing
    there
    for
    so
    long
    without
    even
    moving
"i shut the door and in the morning
    it was open
    -the end"

Olemn slammed his hammer and from the sparks on the metal of his anvil came the spheres of the heavens.

Sayrah blew life into the spheres and they moved. From her wheel she weaved the names of people in to mystery.

Flowing through the hands of time

    Adapting for their course

    Never moving beyond itself

    Your personal driving force

Did it start when you were small

    From everything DNA drew

    Or was it something else

    Nurture not nature beget you

I guess we will never know

    Though we can always speculate

    All within us and beyond

    Which draws upon our fate.

The present mind is the tool
    To dupe the trickster fool.
Wisdom is weak in the face of a peek
    But strategic emotion is stronger.

    (inspired by today's radiolab episode)
    You hem me in -- behind and before;
you have laid your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

    Bump it back to life,
and dust off it's molded pages,
    tug at this twisted thread,
    alive for all the ages.
'One of (Lucas) Cranach's masterpieces, discussed by (Joseph) Koerner, is in it's self-referentiality the perfect expression of left-hemisphere emptiness and a precursor of post-modernism. There is no longer anything to point to beyond, nothing Other, so it points pointlessly to itself.' - Iain McGilChrist

"Suppose it didn't," said Pooh, after careful thought.
    Piglet was comforted by this.

    Default Look

    Don't break the smile.

    Yet the eyes don't change.

    Bit too cold.

    Put it down to anxiety,
    or some other disturbance.

    In either way,
    he misses the opportunity,
    not that he would.

If someone had pointed it out,
    he could perhaps,

miss it in a new way.

Left of centre, right of down,
    weave through the needle's thread.

Lest focus fray and go away,
    and hours slip ahead.
