Brazil may be good, but I don't know if I just have an idealized picture in mind.

Austria seems fine too, especially the southern part, where the culture is not dissimilar from my home region.

Scandinavia is bloody hell, cloudy and dark 70% of the time, and people barely speak to each other. Geez, you bunch of nerds.

    In order:

    - Japan (for the culture and lovely temples and forests they have)
    - Ireland (for the old castles and buildings and the landscape)
    - Uganda (mild weather, cheap to live in, lots of English speakers, nice people, good modern amenities)

    That would be Australia.
It has the see, mountains and nice weather. That is more than enough for me

I'd go back to southern Brazil in a heartbeat if the opportunity arose

I'd also put Belize (english speaking since I'm not leaving without the man) or Costa Rica on the list... both have warmer climates, lower costs of living... and I speak spanish as well

Looks fun, better start saving. A friend of mine once paid 2000Euros for a bottle of champagne out there.

Personally, I'd go to Florida or California.

Canada (unsurprising, as I'm planning on actually doing so ), New Zealand, Australia.

A lot of this is language -- I can't imagine how immeasurably more difficult it would be to move to a country where you weren't fluent in the native language. If not for that, I'd also add in Scandinavian countries and potentially more. A lot of this is cultural compatibility -- some culture shock would be inevitable, but there's a big difference between someone say, moving between the western US and western Canada than someone moving from the western US to Nigeria (I have friends who did this on a temporary basis as expats for their employer).

Another factor to consider is how welcoming your new country is to immigrants... some countries that would otherwise be good destinations are (Canada, the US (at least historically)), others aren't.

    Good points.

I'd probably choose the same countries. Same language, economically well off, less culture shock.
