    I've watched bits and pieces from waaaaaay too many teen horror movies (where they get turned into bits and pieces) to want to try this.

    If a national park started registering 'official' caches, I would think about it. In addition to the items Martoon mentioned, I'd bring a) friends and b) mace.

    Because who doesn't love a grown-up treasure hunt???

    Oh yes, one can just imagine a geocache site in the middle of the dark woods and/or spider pipes, together with creepy cache setter lurking in the trees with a machete.
