    "No offense, but..." Hate it. Just say what you mean without that introduction. People who are so focused on trying not to hurt people's feelings for the sake of convention, annoy me. That and, whatever they are about to say is most likely offensive to whomever they're about to direct a statement towards.

    I used to wonder it as well, but I think what the expression is trying to say is something along the lines of "it's always in the last place you think to look".
